About the Change
What is an Electronic Health Record?
An Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a digital system that allows healthcare providers to securely store and manage patient information, including appointment history, treatment notes and, of course, health records. EHR systems help care teams work more efficiently and ensure that your information is accurate and accessible when you need it.
Why is The Center for Hearing and Speech making this change?
We are making this change to better serve you. Our new EHR system will enable our staff to work more efficiently, reduce administrative delays and provide you with improved access to your health information. We are always looking for ways to enhance your experience.
What is different about the new EHR system?
Some new features will include a personalized patient portal for each person we serve, improved communication with external health care providers for the exchange of secure medical records and better management of patient accounts and claims processing.
What is changing with my care?
Nothing. The Center for Hearing and Speech remains committed to providing you with the best possible care. The new EHR system is being implemented to make it easier for our staff to serve you and to give you better access to your own health information. The quality of your care, your providers and your appointments will remain the same—we’re simply upgrading the tools we use on our end to make your experience even better.
What do I need to do for this change?
Nothing. We will reach out to you directly if any action is required on your part.
When does this change take place?
It already has! Please be patient with our staff during in-person appointments as they become used to the new system. While they have all been extensively trained on the new system, it may take some extra time to adjust to its use.
My Appointments
Will my upcoming appointments be affected?
Any currently scheduled appointments will continue as scheduled. However, as our staff gets acquainted with the new system, you may notice that some appointments may take a little longer than usual during the transition period.
I received a call or text from an unknown number about my appointment—is it legitimate?
Yes, it may be. As part of our transition to the new EHR system, appointment confirmation communications may come from a new or unfamiliar number. If you receive a call or text regarding an upcoming appointment, please know that this is a legitimate communication from The Center for Hearing and Speech. If you are ever unsure, you are always welcome to contact us directly at 314-968-4710 or april.green@esmw.org to verify.
Are any phone numbers or contact information changing?
Our new faxing number is (844) 912-4483.
Payments and Billing
Will the payment methods you accept change?
No. All previously accepted forms of payment will still be accepted.
How do I make payments after this change?
Continue to pay for appointments as you always have.
Patient Portal
As part of our transition to the new EHR system, we will introduce a patient portal that gives you direct access to your health information. The portal will be available at a later date following our system go-live.
We are excited to offer this new feature and will share more details, including how to set up your account and what you can access through the portal, as they become available. Stay tuned for updates!
